Headaches NZ

About Me:

My name is Sue De Jong, I am a NZ qualified and registered physiotherapist.   I graduated from Otago University in 1994, trained in acupuncture through PAANZ in 2001 and completed my PGD (Musculoskeletal physiotherapy) in 2003.

Early in my career I worked in the public hospital setting before working in the USA as a locum physiotherapist in hospitals, community and private physiotherapy clinics.  On return to New Zealand in 1999 I focused on musculoskeletal physio in private clinics including extensive sports physio, and treatment of spinal and peripheral joints, and have continued to work in this specialty.  I also have developed a special interest in the treatment of headaches and migraines after experiencing a period of significant headaches myself and have undertaken specific training in the assessment and treatment of headaches and migraines throughout New Zealand and Australia.

Knowing personally how debilitating headaches and migraines can be it gives me great satisfaction to help lift this burden of pain from the lives of my clients.

I have worked with sports teams including local soccer clubs, softball (Aussy Steelers and NZ White Sox) and worked as part of medical team at the Wellington Sevens tournaments. As a regular participant in sport myself I understand the drive to return to active participation and I work to help clients rehabilitate and attain their goals. Personal sporting achievements include completion of the Coast to Coast (2-day and 1-day individual), New Haven Marathon and the Karapoti Classic. Currently my sporting passion is mountain biking which is recreational, and supporting my children in their sports.

In 2015 I established Sue De Jong Physiotherapy - Headaches NZ in Torbay as a part-time clinic.  The clinic extended to a full-time clinic in August 2017 and is now open Monday to Friday, and by appointment on Saturdays.
