Headaches NZ
Treating the upper neck decreases Brainstem sensitivity which helps to alleviate headaches.
Headaches NZ has many successful stories with clients who have short and long histories of headaches and Migraines..
The NZ board of Physiotherapy has a guideline which prevents publication of any testimonials - so what I can offer is a conversation if you would like any further information, or, an appointment to evaluate your needs and create a treatment plan.
Headaches NZ specialises in treatment for those who experience headaches and migraines. Our goal is to enable you to live a painfree lifestyle and improve your quality of life.
Recent research has determined that an area in the brainstem called the trigemino-cervical nucleus (TCN) is sensitised in people who experience headaches and migraines. The TCN receives information from the trigeminal nerve, which also supplies the face and head, and the cervical spine (neck). The TCN is influenced by hormonal levels and is the site at which common migraine medications act.
At Headaches NZ we will alleviate headaches and migraines using specific mobilisation techniques of the upper neck to desensitise the TCN.
There are many types of headaches and migraine including:
Migraine with or without Aura, Tension Headache, Menstrual Migraine, Vestibular Migraine,
Cervicogenic Headache, Abdominal Migraine, Cluster Headaches, Trigeminal Neuralgia
At your first session we will discuss the history of your head pain and formulate a customised treatment plan designed to reduce your headache/migraine. Improvements are expected in 4-5 treatment sessions during an intial 2-3 week period.
Our ultimate goal is to provide you with the knowledge and tools to maintain ongoing control of your pain.
